TO ALL FURNITURE MANUFACTURERS

National Open Meeting

11:00 Tuesday, February 15th 2005, DTI Campus, Meintjies Street, Pretoria

Since October 2004 the FurnitureSA Joint Action Group (JAG) interim ad hoc committee has engaged widely with industry manufacturers, suppliers, existing industry bodies, training organisations, as well as employer and labour organisations across the country.

Through these discussions it has become clear that the establishment of a single Industry body is essential to represent the industry across all disciplines at a national level, to engage and interact with government on all matters pertaining to the Industry. The original scope and objective of the JAG was to focus on local and export marketing at a coordinated national level. This objective remains unchanged, except that the JAG function is now seen as being part of this broader body.

To this end the interim ad hoc JAG committee, in collaboration with the DTI, invites all furniture manufacturers, suppliers to the industry, and related industry players to attend a National Open Meeting at the DTI campus, Pretoria on Tuesday, February 15th 2005 at 11:00.

The objective of this meeting, to be facilitated by the JAG ad hoc committee, is for Industry to discuss and jointly establish the structure of this body, ideally to elect the committee and formalise the body.

Individual invitations / notifications will also be sent out by the DTI regional offices in January/February 2005.

Your attendance and contribution to this important meeting is crucial.
